France - Cycling through Provence (self-guided- 7 days)

This self guided cycling adventure explores some of the most enchanting countryside in Provence. You will ride along fields of vibrant colour and through hidden hilltop villages with plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the cultural and gastronomic delights.

Beginning in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the 'Little Venice' of Provence, you cycle towards the foothills of Mont Ventoux, known as the 'giant of Provence' and famous for its role in the Tour de France. The base of Ventoux is dotted with some of the most picturesque villages in Provence; Venasque, Crillon le Brave to name a few. With the imposing silhouette of Mont Ventoux at your side, you will pedal your way through world renowned vineyards and wine-making towns before reaching the Roman capital of France, Vaison la Romaine, and its exceptional site of Roman ruins.

1 Arrive L'lsle-sur-la-Sorgue.
2 From Venasque, cycle towards the foot of Mont Ventoux via the hidden villages of Méthamis, Villes-sur-Auzon and Flasson (26km).
3 Ride to the famed Tour de France village of Bédoin. Short climb to the village of Crillon le Brave with spectacular views of Mont Ventoux. Cycle on to the town of Beaumes de Venise (20km).
4 Ride through the vineyards of the Rhône Valley and via the famous wine towns of Vacqueyras and Gigondas. Continue to the beautiful village of Séguret perched above the Rhône Valley (20km).
5 Pedal through the vines to the medieval villages of Roaix and Villedieu, and on to the town of Vaison-la-Romaine, with its impressive Roman ruins (25kms).
6 Loop ride through the towns of the Drôme Provençale, where olive groves blanket the countryside. Return to Vaison-la-Romaine (25km).
