Famous French Cols - Polka Dot Tour - 27June & 27 July 10 - (13 days)

** This Classic Cols Tour connects with our Tour de France Tours **

Ride the famous climbs at your own pace

The Polka Dot Tour aims to overdose on memorable climbs in France (and-this year-Spain, and Switzerland). We ride the roads made famous by races like the Paris-Nice, Tour de France and Dauphine Libre. In 12 days of cycling we take on the big names: Ventoux, Alpe du Huez, Tourmalet, Galibier …and a bunch more of the greatest rides in the Alpes, Provence and Pyrenees.

Smart route planning means we ride from hotel to hotel each day: no on-road schedules, ride each day at your own pace…fast, steady, or touristic.

There's plenty of support. Riding guides; mechanic; first aid; transport for bags, bikes, and you; and the benefit of our lifetime's experience riding, racing, touring, and travelling in France.

Rides for ordinary mortals . Distances range from 60km to 140km each day with an average around 80km per day. Riding 80km every day for almost two weeks is demanding-but-do-able and, on these roads, unforgettable.

Then there's the down hills. If riding the climbs is the challenge, what comes next is the reward. It's not about speed, it's the exhilaration of carving almost endless curves, immense vistas across valleys and villages, and the euphoria of playing with gravity and the wind.

Plunge into the experience. The itinerary is designed so there is time to rest, sight see, recover, and enjoy the delights of rural France. Being part of a group means you can share your excitement and find a riding buddy when it suits. The mountains are big; the group is small so we can attend to your individual needs. The PDT typically has about 12 riders.

The tour cost includes accommodation, all breakfasts, some dinners, and transport for you, your luggage and bike, pre-ride briefings, maps and information. We plan the route then find the best hotels in the right places.

The Polka Dot Tour starts and finishes in cities with airports and fast train connections. During the tour you will only be in a car when you want to: it's all about riding the famous climbs.
